Key Person System

All children at Preschool and those who regularly attend Extended Services have a Key Person.

The Key Person will be a particular member of staff assigned to support your child and family.  They will become a familiar and special adult who will help your child to settle in and feel happy, secure and confident when you are not around.

When Preschool children first start with us, Parents/Carers are given a Key Person information form which details the role of the Key Person as well as the name of the member of staff assigned to you and your child. A copy of this can be viewed at the bottom of the page.
At the beginning of your child’s first sessions as well as during your initial visit and settling in session, we will discuss with you your child’s likes, dislikes and routines and then ensure that both you and your child’s individual requirements and priorities are met.
All children have a Learning Journey which celebrates your child's time at Busy Bees as well as their achievements and milestones. It will contain photographs of your child, work samples, written observations and hopefully comments and photos from parents/carers.. Your child's Key Person will be responsible for building and updating the Learning Journey and for keeping you closely informed about your child's progress and well-being.
Parents of Preschool children will have the opportunity to talk to their child's Key Person at drop off and collection times although we are aware that these times can be rather busy.  If you would like to speak to your child's Key Person at another time, please speak to them - we will arrange a more convenient time.  We also have annual Parent's Evenings which is an opportunity for parents to discuss their child's progress with the Key Person.
Please be aware that you are able to access your child's Learning Journey at any time - please speak to your child's Key Person if you would like to take yours home to look at and contribute to.
As parents are the most important people in a child's life, we do appreciate it if you could keep us up to date with anything important which is happening in their life which may affect their time with us.  This could be a change in interests, change in sleeping routines or beginning toilet training.
When we have a close, trusting and respectful relationship with parents/carers, it positively influences a child's development.  Please inform us of your child's interests so your Key Person is able to plan fun, stimulating and challenging experiences for them which will encourage their progress through the Early Years Foundation Stage.
All of the staff at Busy Bees are very much looking forward to working in partnership with you to ensure your child's time with us is rewarding and full of rich opportunities for play and development.
