Butterfly Group

Our Butterfly group is for children who are in their Pre-School year.  Although the 3 and 4 year olds gain a lot from spending time interacting with the younger children, there comes a time when they need more adult led activities.  All children in the Butterfly group are due to start school in September.

Children in the Butterfly group have daily phonics sessions led by Bev.  There is more information on this under the 'Parent Info' tab.  These sessions are fun, face paced, interactive and the children demonstrate amazing progress.  If at any time you would like more information about phonics, please speak to Bev who can talk you through the activities.  May be you would like to come in and see a session in action?

Additionally, every Monday afternoon, our Butterfly group take part in PE sessions which are planned by Jodie and led by Jodie and Julie.  Children are required to bring in a PE kit consisting of a T-Shirt, jogging bottoms or leggings, non lace up trainers or pumps and a drink in a sports bottle.

The children in the Butterfly group take part in a Gardening Club every Thursday afternoon - you can find out more information about this under the 'Parent Info' tab.

Children will also take part in Forest School sessions with us whilst in the Butterfly group.  At the beginning of the Autumn term, these sessions will be held on a Thursday morning, changing to a Friday morning after October half term.  We will be changing the day Forest School is on each half term to allow more children to access this wonderful provision

The children in the Butterfly group also have their own separate story time at the end of the session which is geared to their level of understanding and thinking.  Children are encouraged to join in with the rhymes and refrains in the story as well as thinking about the characters, how the story might end and what might happen next.  Story time is also an opportunity to reflect on the session and for the children to think about what they particularly enjoyed.

If your child is at Busy Bees in September 2015 and due to start school in September 2016, they will automatically join the Butterfly Group - this is regardless of whether they are at Busy Bees full time or doing wrap around with LPS Nursery.
